Taos Mesa Animal Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Rescue was founded in February 2022 in response to the overpopulation of homeless and feral dogs in Taos County and surrounding areas. TMAS is a nonprofit animal sanctuary in Carson, NM. Our goal is to provide community support and long-term rehabilitation for the underserved and homeless animal population. We work in conjunction with local shelters and rescues as well as the community at large. With a primary focus on rehabilitation of fearful, at-risk and special needs animals, we also take in animals due to emergencies such as having been abused and/or abandoned. When possible, our goal is to rehome. For some animals, TMAS is a half-way house, but for others, it will be their lifelong home.
